Bridgeport, CT - For the second straight night Bluefish pitching gave up three homeruns. The Bluefish were able to post seven runs, but it would not be enough to hold off the Camden bats in the 8-7 Bluefish loss. Kevin Hodges started for the Fish giving up three runs on seven hits in five innings of work. Nick Stocks got the start for Camden giving up seven runs on 6 hits through six plus innings of work. In the top of the first inning Denny Abreu knocked in the first run of the game for the Riversharks with a ground ball that drove in Brad Strauss from third. After giving up the run, Hodges struck out Alejandro Freire to end the inning. Bryant Nelson got the run back for the Bluefish immediately with a solo blast to right-center off of Stocks' second pitch of the game. Abreu struck for the second time in the top of the third when he hit a two-run homerun to left field, giving Camden a 3-1 lead. With two outs in the bottom of the fourth Damian Rolls ripped a ground rule double down the line scoring Willis Otanez, who had just joined the Bluefish that day. Angel Esapda followed with a single back up the middle that scored both Steve Hine and Damian Rolls. The Riversharks tied the game in the sixth inning (4-4) when John Pachot doubled and Ryan Jones singled. Matt Demarco then singled in Jones to give Camden the lead (5-4). Phil Norton, took over for the Bluefish in his first appearance as a Bluefish and ended the inning without any further damage. Abreu continued to batter Bluefish pitchers in the seventh inning with a solo homerun, his second of the game and tenth of the year. In the bottom of the seventh, Espada ripped a double to lead off the inning and then continued to score on a single down the first-base line from Jamie Pogue that knocked Stocks out of the game. Mark Ion took over and gave up a two RBI single to Deivi Cruz that put the Bluefish back in the lead 7-6. Pachot reached on a double in the eighth and came home when Ryan Jones homered to left-field putting Camden back on top 8-7 which would be the final. |
