Bridgeport, CT - Camden 's Ben Simon pitched 6.2 strong innings of six hit ball, leading the Riversharks to a 5-0 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish, Wednesday evening in front of 3,017 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The Bluefish have now lost a season-high six straight games, tying the club record for consecutive losses in a season. Camden leaped onto the board in the fourth inning when Dwight Maness scored on a Ryan Jones RBI-groundout. The Riversharks extended their lead to 2-0 when Rich Barrett laced a solo homerun over the left field wall, his 6 th long ball of the year. Three batters later, Ryan Jones creamed a two-run homerun over the left centerfield wall off of Dan Krines, which was Jones' 7th dinger of the year. Camden made it a 5-0 contest when Brad Strauss drove Barrett from third, giving the Riversharks a 5-0 lead. Strauss now has 37 RBIs on the year. Bridgeport starter Pat Ahearne went 6.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out six and walking four. Camden starter Ben Simon pitched 6.2 innings of shutout ball, allowing six hits while walking two and striking out seven. The Bluefish continue their four game series against the Riversharks tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:35 a.m. as Bridgeport sends RHP Brad Cornett to the mound to face RHP Greg Powell from Camden. |
