LEXINGTON LEGENDS vs. AUGUSTA GREENJACKETS

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 36-18) won their sixth straight game over the Lexington Legends (21-48, 19-35) with an 11-2 win on Saturday night. Starter Chance Corgan recorded the win matching a career high mark with seven strikeouts and Juan Ciriaco drove in three runs to lead the offense.

The GreenJackets scored four times in the third inning to rally back for a 5-2 lead after falling behind 2-0 after the first inning. Ciriaco’s RBI sac-fly tied the game at 2-2 then after Thomas Neal singled Dayton Buller connected for an RBI single scoring Nick Noonan for a 3-2 Augusta lead. Angel Villalona followed with a two-run double to put Augusta up 5-2.

Corgan (4-5) worked six innings allowing both runs, one earned, on four hits while not walking a batter for his second straight win at home.

Augusta added three more runs in the sixth inning with two outs on a two-run double from Noonan and an RBI single from Ciriaco for an 8-2 lead.

The GreenJackets pushed the lead to 11-2 scoring three more times in the eighth inning beginning with an RBI double from James Simmons. Then again with two outs, Ciriaco had an RBI single and two batters later Buller connected for an RBI single.

Lexington took the early lead in the first inning getting a two-run double from Brian Pellegrini for a 2-0 lead.

Augusta got on the board in the second inning on back-to-back two-out doubles from Villalona and Garrett Baker to cut the lead in half.

The GreenJackets and Legends continue their series on Sunday with Augusta sending left-hander Scott Barnes (1-1, 0.60) to the hill. Lexington will counter with right-hander Luis Pardo (1-7, 4.30). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

The GreenJackets improved to 43-22 at home this season, 23-7 in the second half.

The GreenJackets have a 4.5 game lead in the Southern Division.

August scored nine runs with seven two-out RBI hits on Saturday.

Augusta scored double-digit runs for the first time since August 3.

Augusta’s official paid attendance at the game was 4,325 for a new franchise attendance record of 184,887.
