HUNTSVILLE STARS vs. CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS

Chattanooga, TN - On a night in which the Lookouts honored former manager Carl Ermer, whose first year with the Lookouts was 1953, it was a fitting and coincidental 5-3 win for the Lookouts against the Huntsville Stars in Saturday night action at AT&T Field.

Michael Garciaparra gave the Stars an early lead by knocking a solo shot off of the scoreboard in left to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

Chattanooga waited until the fourth to enter the scoreboard. With one out, Justin Turner walked and advanced to second on a single by Chris Valaika. Drew Anderson followed with a force out at second, but a crafty and speedy Turner surprised the Stars by finding his way home on the double-play attempt to knot-up the score, 1-1.

The Lookouts added two more runs in the fifth on a line-drive homer over the right field wall by Eddy Rodriguez.

The runs kept rolling in the sixth for the Lookouts. Valaika walked to begin the inning, and Anderson followed with a single. After a B.J. Szymanski strikeout, Eric Eymann nailed a two-RBI double to give the Lookouts a 5-1 edge.

Robert Manuel pitched the final three frames to earn his third save of the season. He yielded one run on two singles and a subsequent RBI-ground out by Mike Bell in the ninth.

Travis Wood (4-9) earned the win, throwing six innings of one-run ball. He yielded just three hits and two walks during the two-strikeout performance. Mikes Jones (6-11) took the loss for the Suns, throwing five innings. He yielded three runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out three.
