Bridgeport, CT - The Bluefish lost the first game of a three game set against the Long Island Ducks at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Tuesday night. The final score was 6-3, Eddy Ramos (0-2) got the loss for the Bluefish. Mike Porzio (3-5) started the game and pitched seven and one-third innings giving up three runs on nine hits while striking out five. The Bluefish are now two games out of first place, trailing the Ducks. Pete Rose Jr. made his Bluefish debut. Carlos Hernandez recorded the first run of the game for the Ducks in the top of the first inning, scoring from second when Bucky Jacobsen ripped a single to left field. Deivi Cruz quickly evened up the score for the Bluefish in the bottom of the first with a solo shot to left field off of Pat Mahomes (9-4). The Ducks tacked on another run in the top of the third when Henry Rodriguez ripped a double down the first-base line, scoring Mel Stocker from second. Hernandez picked up an RBI for the Ducks in the top of the fifth, grounding out and driving home Greg Connors who reached base earlier in the inning. Porzio then struck out Rodriguez to end the inning at with a 3-1 Ducks lead. The Bluefish tied the game at three in the fifth inning when Barry Wesson ripped a double to centerfield that scored Bryant Nelson and Cruz who both singled earlier in the inning. The Ducks took the lead in the top of the 10th when Jacobsen ripped an RBI single through the right side to score Stocker from third. The Ducks continued to score to more to give them a 6-3 lead that would be the final. |
