Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish exchanged leads twice before falling 8-5, to the Nashua Pride in front of 5,383 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard Friday night. The Bluefish jumped out on top in the bottom of the first inning as Chris Latham led off with a single to left centerfield and an infield single by Tony Rodriguez scored Latham as Nashua starter, Jeremy Griffiths, argued with first base umpire, Dan Wilson. The Bluefish tagged on two additional runs in the inning as Gary Burnham doubled to left field to score Rodriguez and Jamie Gann (reached on a single to right). The Pride took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth as Brian Becker scored on a single by Shane Hopper, and Mike Torres hit a three run homerun over the centerfield wall. Brady Williams hit an RBI triple to right centerfield past a diving Tom Creighton to score Gann (double to centerfield) in the bottom of the third inning to tie the score at four. Nashua 's Darren Bragg hit a solo homerun over the corner of the right field wall to put the Pride up 5-4 in the top of the seventh. Will Pennyfeather hit an RBI double to center field to score Gann from second base to tie the score at five in the bottom of the frame for the 'Fish. Nashua regained their lead in the eighth as Torres struck again with an RBI double to centerfield. The Pride tagged on two insurance runs in the top of the ninth as Bragg and Creighton scored for Nashua in the top of the ninth. Bridgeport starter Josh Miller went eight innings, allowing six earned runs on eleven hits while striking out five and walking three. Nashua starter Jeremy Griffiths pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking one. Cam Esslinger pitched a scoreless ninth for Nashua to earn his fifth save of the season. RHP Pat Ahearne will take the hill for the Bluefish tomorrow while LHP Nate Teut will make his third start for Nashua . Game time will begin at 7:05 p.m. |
