Bridgeport, CT - The Road Warriors scored eight runs, on Friday night, before the Bluefish recorded a single out in the first inning, a 'Fish season high for runs given up in one inning. It would set the tone in the 16-3 Bluefish loss. Mike Porzio, (1-4) started off the day with a walk to Sheldon Fulse, who then stole second for the Road Warriors. Fulse came home when Teuris Olivares hit a ball through the left side. Mike Huggins and Manuel Mejia both singled next to load the bases for Bernie Gonzalez to rip a double and pick up two RBI's. Colin Young then took over the ball game and gave up a bases clearing triple. By the end of the inning the score was 8-0 Road Warriors The Bluefish got right to work in the bottom of the first, Bryant Nelson walking and Deivi Cruz doubling. Nelson came home on an Angel Echevarria single. Cruz came home as Barry Wesson hit into a fielder's choice. Bernie Gonzalez tacked on three more for the Road Warriors in the fourth with a bases loaded double, putting the Road Warriors up 11-2. Wesson scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth inching the Bluefish closer 11-3, but it would not be enough for the first place 'Fish to hold their standing. The Bluefish ended up using five pitchers on the day, Mike Porzio (0.0), Colin Young (3.0), Eduardo Villiacis (1.0), Dan Krines (3.1), and Sean Fesh (1.2). T.J. Mathews gets the start for the Bluefish tomorrow against Road Warrior southpaw, Alberto Castillo, in a 7:05p.m. start. |
