Bridgeport , CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish won their 20 th game of the second half defeating the Somerset Patriots on Tuesday evening, 7-6, in the bottom of the eleventh with back to back doubles by Gary Burnham and Will Pennyfeather, in front of 1,550 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Billy Hall led off the game with a bunt single up the first base line, stole both second and third base and scored on an overthrow by catcher Jason Torres. The Bluefish tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Tony Rodriguez walked, advanced to second on a Jamie Gann single, and scored as Gary Burnham singled up the middle. Somerset scored four runs in the top of the second as the Patriots rallied with a lead off single by Lou Lucca and a bases clearing single by Jeff Nettles (3 RBI). Bridgeport pulled within two in the bottom of the frame as D.J. Boston and Brady Williams were walked to start it off. Angel Espada reached on an error by the third baseman to load the bases. Tony Rodriguez singled to score Boston , and Williams reached home as Jamie Gann was hit in the ankle by starter, Tim Christman. Bridgeport came within one run in the bottom of the eighth as Jason Torres hit a solo homerun over the right field wall, his first for the Bluefish this season. The game became tied in the bottom of the ninth as Steve Larkin scored on a single by Boston . Burnham increased his batting average to .328 with a 3-for-5 performance on the night including an RBI single in the first, a single to centerfield in the fifth, and a one out double in the eleventh. Bluefish starter, Tim Cain, went four innings allowing six runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out and walking three. Somerset starter, Tim Christman, went five innings allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits while walking and striking out four. Saul Solveson took the loss for Somerset (2-1), and Eddie Ramos earned the win for Bridgeport (1-2). Reliever/closer Brian Bowles increased his scoreless innings streak to 15.1 pitching both the ninth and tenth innings. Before tonight, Bowles had not walked a batter in seven games. The Bluefish continue their three game series against the Somerset Patriots starting on Wednesday.
