The ultimate goal of Pitfall! was to recover all 32 treasures in a 20 minute time limit.

Pitfall! was programmed by David Crane, who also did Pitfall II, Kaboom!, Fishing Derby, Decathlon, Outlaw, and numerous other games.

By scoring 20,000 or more, you would earn the “Activision Explorers' Club” patch.

Pitfall! spawned an animated series on CBS called “Pitfall Harry”, which debuted in 1983.

The television commercials for Pitfall! starred then child actor Jack Black.
