The Atari 7800 was a system that was released in May 1984 and almost stopped dead in its tracks upon release. Jack Trammel purchased Atari in June of 1984 and discontinued the Atari 7800. It was then re released in June 1986 in an attempt to just clear out stock. Besides the better graphics, the 7800 had FAR better controllers than the 5200. The 7800 was the first system to be backwards compatible, playing most all Atari 2600 games... |
