The Magnavox Odyssey2 was released in the US in 1978 and the first system Magnavox produced that used ROM cartridges. The system was far more popular in Europe (as Philips Videopac G7000) than in the US. In fact, only two third party titles were released for the system in the US, Imagic's Atlantis and Demon Attack. In its life span, Maganovox only licensed one arcade title, Turtles. Seems a little odd to me, but I actually read that the Odyssey 2 is actually unable to produce the color yellow. Obviously the people of Magnavox were very excitable people as just about every game title ended with a “!”. |
